Palm Going to HP For $1.2 Billion

After weeks of speculation that Palm could fold or be acquired, a buyer has come forth -- HP has announced that it's agreed to purchase Palm for $5.70 per share, or roughly $1.2 billion. The webOS operating system will be HP's, and could give it a new lease on life.

iAds and the iPad

Apple plans to charge $1 million - ten times the amount normally charged for a mobile phone ad - for its inaugural round of iAds, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday. Apple may give mobile ads a huge boost with iAd, a platform and network that will deliver come-ons to users on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad via the upcoming iPhone OS.

Police Raid Gizmodo Editor's House

Recently, we covered Apple's umbrage at the fact that gadget blog Gizmodo ran video and stories showing what appears to be a lost prototype of the next-generation iPhone. In a new twist, San Mateo police raided Gizmodo editor Jason Chen's house and seized computers, apparently at Apple's urging. Chen has retained a lawyer.
